A Sweet Treat for Seniors During March Sarah’s Fund Day
Sevier County Seniors Enjoy an Ice Cream Outing During Monthly Sarah’s Fund Day.
The Dolly Parton My People Senior Activity Center recently held its monthly Sarah’s Fund Day on March 8, giving Sevier County Seniors the opportunity to get out and enjoy a fun-filled day of activities. A small group of seven ladies were in attendance at this month’s event, during which they enjoyed spending time together crafting before taking a bus ride out for a delicious dessert.
Indulging in the Simple Things.
By popular request, this month’s Sarah’s Fund event began with a jewelry crafting project. The ladies enjoyed chatting and socializing as they crafted handmade pendants, which they were able to take home with them at the end of the day. After delighting in last month’s drive through the Smokies, everyone was thrilled when the bus pulled around to take them on another drive, this time to an ice cream parlor for a tasty dessert. The bus made a quick detour along the way, taking them to Gatlinburg’s Overlook for a beautiful view of the mountains before heading to Russel Stover for classic hand-dipped ice cream — the perfect topping for a wonderful day.
After a long winter, the seniors who attend the monthly Sarah’s Fund events are anxiously awaiting springtime and sunshine! Even the simple joy of doing something outside their homes and going on a bus ride can make the biggest difference in these seniors’ lives, many of whom are in assisted living facilities or without any remaining family. Sarah’s Fund is delighted to help provide monthly activities and assistance to Sevier County Seniors, keeping them happy, healthy and active.
