Seniors Enjoy a Homestyle Country Breakfast During September Sarah’s Fund Day

Sevier County seniors were treated to an old-fashioned breakfast at Cracker Barrel during monthly Sarah’s Fund Day.

The Dolly Parton My People Senior Activity Center recently held its September Sarah’s Fund Day, providing a fun-filled outing for Sevier County seniors and giving them a wonderful opportunity to connect with one another over a good old-fashioned breakfast. A few of the regular attendees were under the weather, but a group of twelve ladies enjoyed a fabulous restaurant experience before an entertaining afternoon at the Senior Activity Center.

A Taste of Home Cooking.

To kick off the day’s events, the ladies were surprised to find out they would be treated to a good old-fashioned breakfast at Cracker Barrel. They loaded up the bus and headed to the restaurant for a taste of home cooking and enjoyed each other’s company along the way. After filling up on a delicious breakfast with all the southern fixins like biscuits and gravy, pancakes, country ham and eggs, the staff took the group back to the Senior Activity Center for an afternoon game of Bingo. They all loved their Bingo winnings, most of which were practical gifts like toilet tissue and dish soap, which help provide some necessities that can add up on a tight budget. “They were all so grateful and one day hope to meet the ‘angels’ who make this happen for them,” shared Ashley Sellars, Activities Chairman at the My People Senior Activity Center.

For many seniors, the opportunity to do something outside of their homes or assisted living facilities are few and far between. Even the simple gesture of taking them out to eat can make a big difference. Sarah’s Fund is glad to help provide monthly activities and assistance to Sevier County Seniors, keeping them happy, healthy and active.
