Sarah’s Fund Monthly Events Return for Sevier County Seniors

The Dolly Parton My People Senior Activity Center resumes monthly Sarah’s Fund Day.

After a year-long hiatus, the Dolly Parton My People Senior Activity Center has resumed holding monthly Sarah’s Fund activity days. Sarah's Fund was created to keep Sevier County seniors happy, healthy and active by giving them something to look forward to each month. One such way the fund has been serving the community is by providing activity days for seniors.

Once a month, seniors are treated to a fun day filled with crafting activities, entertainment, food and fellowship at the My People Senior Activity Center. With the onset of the COVID-19 crisis, these activities had been placed on hold, and the fund diverted its focus to providing emergency meals for seniors in need. With the rollout of the COVID-19 vaccine, Sarah’s Fund is excited to once again offer monthly activities for Sevier County seniors.

A Fun-Filled Day of Activities.

On July 13, the first Sarah's Fund day of 2021 was held to kick off the summer events. Seniors got together to create their own mini gardens with sweet potato vines, lemon balm and marigolds, which they were able to take home. Everyone was treated to a delicious lunch and ice cream social before finishing off the day’s activities with a game of musical trivia.

The most recent Sarah's Fund event was also a success. Over a dozen seniors were in attendance and experienced a wonderful day filled with enjoyable activities. They made fall themed wreaths, had an amazing lunch and finished the day by playing a rousing game of bingo for the chance to win several small prizes. Jacob Timmons, president and founder of S.D. Professionals and Sarah’s Fund, shares,

It’s great to see so many Sevier County seniors enjoying themselves, thanks to Sarah’s Fund. Mama dearly loved gardening, and she was always in the kitchen baking something for somebody!

Sarah Timmons lived her life to the fullest each day, cooking and baking, growing beautiful flowers and sharing her home with family, friends and loved ones. With the support of her family, Sarah was able to remain active even after she was restricted to a wheelchair. She loved going on shopping adventures, road trips and attending events like the annual Tennessee State Fair. In her honor, Sarah’s Fund is a proud supporter of the Dolly Parton My People Senior Activity Center, and the team at S.D. Professionals couldn’t be happier to see the return of the monthly events that bring so much joy to the seniors of Sevier County.
