Seniors Take in the Colors of Fall During November Sarah’s Fund Day
Sevier County seniors enjoy a scenic outing through the Smokies during monthly Sarah’s Fund Day.
The Dolly Parton My People Senior Activity Center recently held its November Sarah’s Fund Day, providing a fun-filled day of autumn activities. About a dozen seniors enjoyed a scenic drive through the Great Smoky Mountains before being treated to a delicious homestyle lunch at one of everyone’s favorite restaurants.
Leaf Looking and Country Cooking.
To kick off the day’s events, the seniors in attendance loaded up the bus for a scenic drive to soak up the autumn atmosphere and enjoy all of the beautiful fall colors on the trees. The Great Smoky Mountains are one of the most popular destinations in the country to enjoy the colorful leaves during autumn, so everyone was very excited for the opportunity to go on an outing to truly appreciate the beauty of our area. While many of the leaves were shed during a windstorm the previous weekend, there was still plenty of color on the trees and everyone had a great time together with lots of laughs. Before heading back to the Senior Activity Center, the seniors were treated to lunch at Cracker Barrel for some delicious country cooking.
During the holiday season, many of our community’s seniors do not have any relatives nearby and providing social activities where they can find friendship and fellowship can make a huge difference. Oftentimes, the opportunity to do something outside of their homes or assisted living facilities is few and far between – even the simple gesture of taking them out to eat at a restaurant can put the biggest smile on their face. Sarah’s Fund is glad to help provide monthly activities and assistance to Sevier County Seniors, keeping them happy, healthy and active.
